Néréis II
The Néréis operates for the most part around Banyuls and its wider region.
In particular, the Néréis focuses her activities on the Côte Vermeille, from the coast to the MOLA point directly above the Lacaze Duthiers canyon, 20 miles off Banyuls in the Roussillon Sea.
Missions
The Néréis undertakes missions related to research, observation, teaching, aquariology, promoting science, and marine technology, the latter involving the maintenance of instrumentation buoys deployed by Banyuls Oceanographic Observatory.
Underwater devices regularly used aboard the Néréis include dredges, grabs, plankton nets, bottles, CTDs, and corers.
